Teknologi wireless pasti sahabat blogger sudah pada mengenalnya kan ? Apalagi yang biasa menggunakannya sehari - hari. Saat Anda mengkonfigurasi jaringan nirkabel, Anda memiliki berbagai pilihan teknologi nirkabel atau jaringan wireless standar yang ingin Anda gunakan. Setiap standar nirkabel memiliki berbagai karakteristik, seperti kecepatan dan jangkauan. Cara kerja teknologi ini diatur oleh Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), dan nama kode untuk standar jaringan nirkabel adalah 802.11. Standar ini pada dasarnya merupakan dokumen tertulis IEEE yang menggambarkan bagaimana perangkat nirkabel tersebut harus beroperasi. Dokumen-dokumen ini membantu produsen mengembangkan produk nirkabel yang akan bekerja dengan produk dari produsen lain.
Karena jaringan nirkabel telah berkembang terus, maka IEEE telah mempunyai beberapa standar nirkabel yang berbeda.
Dari awal hingga saat ini masih berkembang, di sini adalah standar nirkabel yang telah diciptakan oleh IEEE untuk industri jaringan wireless saat ini :
- 802.11A : Ini adalah standar yang sedikit digunakan, terutama di pasar konsumen, namun beberapa komputer dibundel dengan dual-band wireless (802.11a/g). - 802.11N : Sebuah standar berkembang yang kompatibel dengan 802.11b dan produk g.
